What’s the good and bad for your work if this happens? All I can think about is job security decreases.

Honestly, it doesn’t change much, if a team is doing an effective quarterly review, it should only be about between 100 and 200 hours. And the bulk of those hours could be offshore. Additionally, as somebody that worked on public companies for way too long, the first quarter review as is a pain in the ass because it comes right after finishing up your end, especially if you have a company that files late for any reason. The time during the third quarter review could be more effectively spent working on their own testing.

During the quarter at the partner and director level too much time is spent meeting with clients, audit committees, preparing for audit committee meeting. Little time spent actually supervising review in the work of the staff. I was working with a very large engagement team, helping them try to figure out how to reduce quarterly hours and part of the reason they couldn’t is that every meeting with senior levels at the client had the engagement leader, the auxiliary partner, the tax partner, the tax director, the engagement director attending the meetings, plus some note takers.

Agree. Quarters are low revenue/margin work. Plus I bet most companies keep quarterly reporting.

Hey sharks!

I have prior experience of React+AWS (2yrs)
Then joined an org where I was bound to work on plain js and outdated libs (1 yr)
I gave numerous interviews.
Common feedback : You're very strong in Js but seems like you're not day to day coding in React (which is absolutely true).
In current org work pressure is quite much, tough to practice seperately. (Theoretical knowledge of react is good, but need practical knowledge)
Requested my org to assign me react proj, they didnt.
Plz help!

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.

Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.

Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

At what point are you too specialized to lateral to internal audit? (PA, consulting, or industry roles) Currently have 2 years of external audit experience and 2 years of forensics: I always thought of internal audit as a decent exit but I’m beginning to get worried about getting too specialized to make that move one day
