We just added 2 week paid parental leave as a benefit for this year, however I just started with the company and there was no process put in place. How do you all have yours set up? Is there a time off policy that employees use so that hours are allocated under that policy? Do they work directly with your leave management provider? Any information would be much appreciated. I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Hi Fishbowl Friends! I’m looking in to starting a masters program in 2023. Background on me - I’ve been in HR for a little over 4 years now and earned my SHRM-CP last spring. Looking for more ways to improve.

Would you recommend any specific schools or master programs? I’m in Tampa, FL but I know most programs are remote these days. :)

Looking for some sales career advice - I am currently working for an organization that sells IT services. I’ve been here for a couple of years and spent my first year cold calling and my second year doing account management and sales. I feel like I have a low base of $50K, with an OTE of 110 however, I expect to meet closer to the 130 to 140 mark. I now have an offer for 65K OTE of 65K from a startup and it would be completely remote and is offering equity. Any advice is appreciated😊

Hello Everyone! Had a discussion yesterday regarding “claw backs” being included in a policy for sponsorship if the new employee leaves before 3 years. It was a declining percentage over a three year period. My POV was that it wasn’t something I’ve ever done and didn’t seem like they were sure of the hire they were making. I get wanting to save costs but at the same time doesn’t feel inclusive or welcoming. Thoughts? Have you done this or seen it work? Thanks!

I have my MSHRM; which I got before I started working in HR, and a PHR but with this new HRM role I'm thinking of getting an HR Certification in Strategic Management. It is very costly. Has anyone taken any of these Certification programs? Is it worth it?

Hey all, question about a toxic organization. I’ve rided it out in sales as an AE at an org for 2 years and now I truly feel my mental health suffers. We have “forecast sales meetings” where the Director grills us on deals in front of the entire team. There is inconsistent behavior and 0 accountability from leadership when we don’t hit our sales targets.

Is this a normal thing in sales?

Recently joined a company that's likely to IPO in the first half of 2021 and a chunk of my equity vests in the fall. Anything I can do to limit my tax liability, specifically relating to vesting equity?

My understanding is that I owe taxes as soon as it vests (assuming liquidation), either by taking it out of my shares or paying when I file.

Is an iPad useful for note taking or coursework during business school?

My position in sales, growing existing accounts with my company, is being eliminated in October. I either take a bit of a pay cut to do something really similar but more stable on the service side, or move to new business (which is not attractive to me), or I find something new. Is it fair they are having me interview just to basically keep my position after 7 years of doing it successfully meeting targets? Or is it time for me to look elsewhere?

I am a sales rep and have worked extremely hard to build a large book of business. Every year upper management seems to find a way to cut commissions and make my hard work, worth less. Is this common? It’s pretty draining to work harder and get paid less year over year even though you’re typically getting more business. I don’t feel valued. Do more for less? Any other great sales companies/ industries that people are happy with and compensated accordingly? Preferably uncapped commissions

How are your engineering teams estimating user stories? I want to validate how my company is currently doing them. Let’s say when one user story is broken down into front end task of 3 sp and a back end task of 5 sp, then the estimate they provide for the story is 5 sp. Is that the correct methodology?

If I forget to click that I’m doing a “run” in activity app on my Apple Watch, would the watch still capture the appropriate number of active calories?
