Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

Bain pays a bit lower at the team leader positions (SM and AP) but partner economics are slightly better than at McK and BCG
Alix's comp philosophy is very different though.
1) Minimal back office functions + comparatively very low branding spend + similar fee structure means more cash for comp overall
2) Senior model / diamond structure means a lot of comp spent on directors and SVPs (vs. at other firms where there's an army of junior consultant for leverage)
3) No up or out and generally slower promotions means your comp growth trajectory could be slower, unless you're one of the truly exceptional who can make MD from SVP in 4-6 years
4) At the MD level, due to our equity ownership structure, I'm actually very curious how they are compensated.
That sounds about right
Could you also please share few insights on Manager (expert) compensation and the career path
Seems low? SM at bain is equivalent to BCG principal?
PL2 is 3.5-5 years from MDP (1 yr as PL, 2 as Pr, 0.5-2 as Partner)
SM1 is 4-5 years from Partner (2 yrs as SM, 2-3 yrs as AP)
PL2, like SM1, is also the second year at the team manager level.
Yeah but scratch the „up to“ and profit sharing is ~50% of bonud
All cash - 401k is 4.5-7% depending on tenure
What is Alice’s WLB like, and possible to lateral in at the junior levels (1-2 YOE at MBB).
Yes, but I recommend you talk to a few people before you decide. The culture is very unique and definitely not for everyone. WLB for the most part is very good given the comp. Less structured than MBB and no cohort model or office culture (very rarely would you come into the office on Fridays precovid).
I personally quite enjoy it - I like that I can get my work done and spend time with my family vs. at office events, etc. But I definitely have had more than a handful of friends/former colleagues who joined, hated it, and left.
