I like to get there a little early, enjoy some relaxing time at the lounge, a beverage and a quick snack and a final call before leisurely boarding. Never got into the whole “mad dash before the door closes” thing.
My goal is to get to the Gate when boarding is 1/3 done. It's not a rush, if I miss the flight there will be another one.
Plane-only outfit set. I arrive at least 60-90mins before boarding, allows me to quench any anxiety and have plenty of time to fill up my water bottle, ensure I know where my gate is, and maybe grab a beverage. oh and charge any devices if need be.
Usually get there between 90 minutes & two hours before the flight, go to the lounge for a snack & drink, work at the lounge, then head to my gate around when boarding starts.
If I’m flying without lounge access, I get there a bit later.
If I’m not checking a bag — I like to arrive 45-60min ahead, which usually gives me just enough time to get through pre check, place my coffee order, pick up said coffee, and walk straight onto the plane in group 1.
If I’m checking, then I get there an hour ahead to be safe.
I prefer to arrive 90 minutes early and relax while I’m there
I like to arrive an hour before boarding. Between Clear, Pre-check, and Digital ID, I’ve never waited more than 30 minutes in Atlanta.
Arrive early and literally anything that will make experience as stress free as possible, I don’t care for cutting it too close to boarding, missing a flight is not how I would want to start a trip.
When I used to travel every week, I was always living on the edge, trying to spend the least time possible at the airport. I was always cutting very close, always stressful.
Now that I travel more sporadically, I arrive at the airport with enough time to do everything calmly.
Pro
If I arrive at the gate when they start boarding my group I’m just on time. I’ll add extra 20 minutes for TSA contingencies.
If I have lounge access I’ll try to get to the airport an hour before boarding to have time for breakfast
If I’m trying to get away from people (vendor meetings, a boring trade show, or certain family members), I’ll go 2 hours before “to be safe” lol.
I never check my bag. I arrive 45 min before the flight and go straight to the gate just in time to board.
If flying international , then 1:30 before my flight. This gives me enough time to get some snacks and chill at the lounge.
I carry-on 95% of the time (hardside and a backpack). I usually arrive at around 60 mins prior to boarding. I hit a store and get a snack, browse and then get to the gate usually after they start boarding. I always feel myself relax right when I get to the airport!
1. Arrive airport 90 mins before take off
2. Clear for security
3. Restroom/Water/Coffee
4. Wait to board absolute last
5. Raw dog the flight
1. Get there to clear TSA pre with about 30-60min before boarding.
2. Head to lounge. I hate overpaying for bad food at airport and would rather have mediocre free food and cleaner bathrooms.
3. Get to gate right as they’re boarding
4. Always carryon never checked
5. Listen to the same playlist on repeat
During all this time I will obsessively check the seat map to see if a free/cheap better seat opens up.
