What's your social media strategy after leaving a toxic workplace? I got burned by posting a celebratory before-and-after pic of my new vs old job and the former company's lawyer came after me for "disparaging" them despite having a standard departure agreement. I suppose I should've blocked them from my socials first, right?

Companies are doubling down on social media. I just avoid it altogether anymore. Even if you blocked them, it’s hard to say that somebody wouldn’t have seen it.

I would have definitely blocked them first. But at the same time they are you YOUR page and I feel you have a right to speak your truth there.

That sounds brutal. I think I would go very minimal after an experience like that – maybe just post about my new role without any comparisons. Safer to keep it clean and let your work speak for itself

Sharing your excitement about a new role is natural, but context matters. If your old employer is litigious, it may be safer to keep posts future-focused

Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a reporter with more than 32 years of experience and I feel that, lately, local television news has been kind of dead, but I am pleased to fight for it from my local newspaper. Locals love to see someone from their own town succeeding or finding out something inspiring.

I am a firm believer that this will not change for a long time, local TV will continue to live as long as we stand for it.

Journalism is the best job in the world but I feel like people are less likely to take my work seriously because I am female. So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else. Is there some way I can tell my supervisor that yes, I do like those stories, but I like being a serious reporter even more?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.
