Hello, I have received an offer from Southwest Airlines as a Associate Technology Analyst with their direct college hire program. Will be graduating in May with a degree in MIS and also have internships experience as a Business Systems analyst intern. The salary compensation started off at 66,500 but was looking for the 75k range and they got back to me saying the best they can do is 68,500. They also have a 401k company match up to 9.3%. Do you think this is a solid offer for this job market?

If they told you the salary band did they ask what your requirements are? Usually it would stop there if they don’t match. I wouldn’t interview unless they’ve indicated they can meet your pay needs.. of you aren’t interested even if they did pay you what you’re looking then just call them back before the next interview to decline - don’t waste the hiring managers time and ask to be kept in mind for future roles that meet your experience level
Base is king. The variable parts of “total comp” can disappear in an instant (as we have seen time and again).
IMO, if it’s a deal breaker for you, then you’re better off explaining the situation and politely declining rather than going through all interviews and declining an offer that you knew you didn’t want.
I would let them know you are not interested. It would be a waste of your time. I’ve been looking and it’s really challenging to find the right position for our level.
