I disagree. Problem solving, interpersonal skills are what the interview process should gauge for analysts. Excel and PPT can be learned in time. Pretty much anyone can be competent in those within a few weeks
There needs to be way of judging basic empathy and teamwork during the interview process.
We honestly don’t even use excel much and never use PPT. I might be doing this wrong.
I hand them a laptop with word and Excel open and ask them to write a simple letter to a client stating I missed a signature on a form and do a simple calculation in a Excel. Under the guise that I am reviewing their other information, I get to see their confidence working the software first hand.
Never used excel or ppt as an FA. What am I missing?
Agree ... interpersonal skills are harder to train in our business. PPT and XL can be trained if you need it.
