What percentage of your salary is your rent? Is it less than 30% ?
A lot of it is just a matter of learning to be thrifty in one's daily life. I was tossing away money on stuff I didn't need, and I slowly got control of the situation. After I pay my bills I'm not rolling in cash, but I certainly don't feel broke. If I was still ordering in my meals or buying things compulsively, that wouldn't be the case.
