Hello I got a confirmation from HR at Shell that I have been selected for a role and there will be background checks before joining the company. He said the mail will come from a 3rd party vendor for the background verification. It has been 1 week and there has been no mails till now. Is it normal? Should I follow up with the HR again?

Hi! I live in Indy (relocated from CA 3 years ago). We love it. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of a bigger city, but the ease and affordability of living here makes it worth it. And there is still plenty to do. We love the Washington township schools, check out that area if you’d like to attend great public schools.
We moved here from CA as well, although I'm originally from OH. Couldn't stay away from the Midwest. Great place to settle down.
I grew up here and as a kid always wanted to move away, went to seattle after graduation and missed it so much. Can confirm, great city and great place to grow up.
Also, it seems to get cooler each year. Tons of great restaurants, entertainment, art, culture.
I live on the north side (Hamilton/Boone county) and it’s a great place to raise a family. Good schools, a lot to do. Really like it here.
I love Indy. I live on the north side. There are a lot of music, sports, and entertainment opportunities. Quite a few of the school districts are good and there are plenty of private options as well.
Yep. Several of the suburbs are consistently ranked every year as the best places to raise a family. Pretty low cost of living. In the city is nice too but some people feel the schools aren’t as good unless you do private school. There are good schools in the city, you just have to do your research. My biggest complaint is that it’s trump/red country (the state in general, but Indianapolis metro is not).
Yes!! But, your ideal area will depend on your preferences/goals. Top school districts are Carmel, Zionsville, Avon, Brownsburg, Fishers, Center Grove, etc. in addition to private school options. Northside is more affluent but also admittedly more pretentious. If you work remotely and don't have to worry about a long commute, then being further out from downtown in Fishers, Brownsburg, or Greenwood will definitely get you more bang for your buck. Wouldn't recommend downtown or necessarily inside 465 unless you're targeting a certain school or more set on a downtown setting
I wouldn’t live in Marion county. I would rather live in the doughnut counties and commute to Indy for work.
I grew up there (Zionsville) + lived there 20 years. It’s a wonderful place to raise a family and grow up. Great schools, parks, activities, people, restaurants and it’s very safe + affordable while still being in close proximity to downtown. Also, Chicago is only about 2-3 hours away, so if you ever want more diversity of options, it’s easy to take a trip. (:
Definitely
I moved here because it feels very similar to my hometown in Ohio, which was a fantastic place to raise a family. Coming here from California, it's an incredible improvement in quality of life.
Indy is a great place to live! Are you thinking about moving here or are you already here?
I love indy. Im in meridian hills, so north side but not the suburbs. Private schools are probably the way to go if you are in an Indianapolis public schools area, although there are good public options as well. we have a 4 and 11 year old attending private. The neighborhood and community are top-notch.
Very boring city. Not necessarily safe. If you must live there might as well live on the north side.
Yeah the north side is safer and more expensive/gentrified. The city overall has a higher murder rate than Chicago, FWIW. It has a nice Zoo though.
Plenty of people do it everyday
