As many times as the USPS has been over budget and still can't compete it is time to stop the bleeding but they won't because they employ too many people.

True that USPS is too bloated to just end. I’m more intrigued about how a country’s lifestyle led to this transition.
It wouldn't change much of anything. Mail is an accessory channel, not a must have these days. We do a handful of reengagement campaigns targeting email unsubscribers or past customers with postcards, and that's about the extent of it. Is it achievable? Probably. Will it ever happen? No.

I believe the same things, which makes Denmark so much more intriguing. I’m also wondering if it will lead to interesting trends in digital communications.
There are always people advocating to eliminate the mail in the US, as they want to grab that business and privatize it. The obstacle is that the post office was mandated in the Constitution, so eliminating it isn't as easy as destroying other government agencies. If it somehow did happen, it would create problems, but as reliance on direct mail has declined anyway it probably wouldn't have a huge impact.

The automotive industry had nice budgets for direct years ago and we got to do some really great packaging. Sadly those days are gone.
The thought of privatizing USPS terrifies me.
I still have to say, it’s such an awesome feeling when you get a GOOD piece of regular mail. In media it feels like there’s opportunity in those analog experiences… audio, ooh, maybe even print?
