Try to really focus on what triggers your anxiety or depression. I’m 27 and a few years ago my anxiety was destroying my health. I was able to pinpoint it to a lot of the relationships in my life and I ended several toxic friendships and deleted several of my social media accounts that didn’t really add any positivity. After that, every aspect of my life improved.
This is helpful. And I am glad you've gotten better!
Definitely see a therapist, preferably one who specializes in treating anxiety. I just saw one and it was highly valuable for me. Medication is an option but we are all different so it may not be a fit for you. Better to try to unpack your traumas and insecurities (we all have them) fix your mindset and thought processes with a therapist before going the drug route.
25 and also experiencing similar things although not clinical. For me, it was about quarter life crisis. I found it helpful to slowly make changes, accept open-ended questions, rather than tackling my feelings in a therapy section. This is just what’s personally worked for me. Hope you’ll find your way too! Congrats on making the leave and always have faith :)
Thank you for this. Very much appreciated!
still experiencing alot of the same issues ( depression, anxiety, tired all of the time, irritability). Aside from therapy, how can I better understand what may be causing these issues and get better?
What stage of life are you in? Where on the promotional ladder did you leave? Have a family? How long did you have the issues before you resigned?
25, worked at the firm right after undergrad. Promoted to Consultant last year. No children but I financially support my parents and currently live with them. I've struggled with depression since college but it worsened when I was working and my anxiety increased as well. Also gained a significant amount of weight. So I know all of the issues haven't started as a result of the job but they didn't get any better either. Just looking for ways to improve mentally
Are you taking meds? It was the only way for me to break through
Yes. For me the biggest barrier to entry was telling my Primary Care I needed meds. More than anything felt ashamed. But the doc understood exactly where I was, on the urgency-benefits graph. From there it’s run of the mill - doc dispenses the meds, you hit up cvs, take it once a day, and repeat.
