If you receive a zoom/teams invite, a video call is expected. If you receive a telephone number, a call is expected.
Camera on. Talking to clients on camera is part of the job we are hiring for.
Great point
For my interviews camera has to stay on. Our recruiters double down on this requirement and we won't interview without it. Too many daring fakes who simply lipsync
That’s good, proper communication around things like this is very important

Online Interviews = camera always on.
I am not hiring a dark blank screen for my team.

If anything, I am a blankist.

Really find the desire to not be on camera to be strange. We’re already working from home and now folks want to be mysterious black squares on a screen? We’re mostly client facing and collaborating with others. Yes, you’re going to see who I am at a given opportunity. It’s called building rapport and the more senses involved, the deeper the connection that can be created.
Camera must be on.
I am an experienced consultant and therefore a sociopath. So my facial expressions will give you nothing.
General camera on, however halfway during my interview I had really bad bandwidth problems and the interviewer was nice enough to offer everyone turning off the camera
Oh it's definitely fine to expect camera on as a default, but I wouldn't raise if they didn't have their camera on in the beginning, only if they refused to after you asked.
Camera off = no offer. Period. I need to know you can interact with a client
I just had an interview where the folks interviewing me were like ya you can have it on or off we don’t care… it was bizzare but with the callout I felt they were more comfortable with the cameras off for everyone.
Camera on. Otherwise the person that shows up on the first day will not be the same person you interviewed.
This!
Phone interviews have existed since before the pandemic and I have had phone interviews also during the pandemic, so, it is normal to have them without camera. Still, I prefer to have camera on, both as an interviewer and as an interviewee
in all my recent interviews, camera on was a requirement for the actual internet view with hiring mgr. but they also had camera on and so it really helped me get overall better feeling that we were real people talking to each other. I wore like a work button shirt etc (no tie) to appear professional on camera. But with Receuiter before and after interviews, it was only phone call - no camera. Even though it is a good feeling for me to be and see others on camera, I don’t think it impacted their decision to offer the job or my decision to accept the job - both those decisions were based on many other reasons not on what I saw on camera. Because, I know the person interviewing me is just one person and may not even be the person I end up working with.
Idk why I needed my camera to interview when no clients or coworkers use it when I started working
Yeah luxury goods people gotta show themselves off. Pharma people really like it on as well tbf

I’ve had interviews where I have it on and recruiters don’t. I find it very strange
Yeah that happened to me too where a partner and senior manager were interviewing me. It’s super weird to the point where it feels sort of intrusive
