In consulting, going into the client bathroom late Monday evening to cry twice for no real reason is normal. True or false?

No reason? That's weird and you should see a doctor for a hormone panel.

You hate your life of downward spiraling boredom, devoid of any meaning or reward? Yeah that's totally normal.

like

False, if you ever feel like you need to cry because of work then you need to go do something else or manage your stress better.

likefunny

It’s not good. Not for fb, but challenge yourself if there’s really no reason

like

I usually have a reason or two or many

There's, generally, enough to challenge your wit and make you take a recourse multiple times on some weeks. At times, you will question your choice of profession, as every other profession does. Miss your family and/or the little one at home till it hurts. Now, whether that is going to make you cry or sulk or channel your "anger" towards getting things done - that is up to you 😊

I don’t understand crying at a client site in general?

I would try to wait until I get to the hotel. Wouldn’t want my teammates to see me with red eyes / puffy eyes

I see multiple posts here about mental breakdown, depression, frustration, anxiety and the like. Why do we do this to ourselves? At what point do you take it seriously enough to say, "Enough is enough? I am opening a ski shop!" :)

Have been doing this job for a long time. Most people recognise this in good time and leave. Sounds like you’re there, OP, if this post is about you. A few suffer breakdowns in consulting and have to leave. And some of us keep going 🤔

True.

OP, don't forget there's some joy and humor in the absurdity of what we do.

It doesn't help make up for the years you spend in BFE doing a SAP implementation, but it does make the day a little more tolerable.

Has anyone been successful in negotiating the schedule on a global pregnancy bill? My provider won't bill by visit and split the global cost into four payments all due by the 28th week. I don't understand how that's legal since it is so off the calendar of services and crosses calendar years (and insurance coverage), where most costs are incurred at the end of pregnancy with increased visit frequency and delivery.

This is an emotional dump rn. It may be lack of social interaction but I'm really frustrated lately. I feel like I lost last 2.5 years of my life with ongoing lockdowns and job instability in the first half of the pandemic. I was 28 turing 31. I get good dates but -ve self talk
Inflation is high & coming from a low income family where you're supposed to help your parents is driving me nuts. Although I make a good salary, after rent, car insurance, there isn't much left (unfav currency exchange)

Offtopic: Which is the best health insurance (company) to buy for parents? Please suggest as per prior firsthand experience in claims, settlement, premium etc.

My parent has a star health policy for which the renewal premium is drastically increasing (almost by 50%) every year at age 51.
With such increase I do not think it will be viable for long term. So planning to switch/port.

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

I’m being offered ~110k to work more, better title, fun project and company

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.
