It’s domestic. The only ID check is by the TSA and they don’t require an ID from anyone under 18. You’re fine https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification
Also, how would an ID prevent the situation you’re talking about? If one parent is “stealing” the kid away.m, they’d presumably have access to a birth certificate.
We flew extensively with both kids and no one ever checked age on domestics. Admittedly mine were petite for their age but you will have no problem with an infant.
I flew with my toddler up to 2 years for free and without any ID - no questions asked. I hv Clear / delta diamond- not sure if that helped
Not your exact situation but we flew domestic on Alaska last week with our 22mo old and no one ID’d him
Thanks all. I have a vague memory of Southwest requiring a birth certificate when we flew with my older one as a lap child, but he was likely 18 months or so, so I guess it was to prove he was under 2. Glad that we should be ok!
My kids are 7 and 12 and we’ve never needed an ID for them.
Yes southwest asked me for Id at stake Louis airport at check in counter ... not the tsa ..
With Delta, you just need to make sure your when you book your tickets that you put “infant in arms” and that the ticket also notes this. That’s the only thing they ever checked me for.
