My advice is to highlight some key accomplishments from the month, whatever is remotely impressive and then try to tie those into the overarching goals the client has. This makes it more attractive even if you haven't hit targets. Then get into the targets set (if any) and where you're at, with a percentage of how much higher or lower you are. If you can have any key insights with those, such as "still ramping up team to cover xyz" or "unexpected industry events" etc for any low numbers that's helpful. And then all the rest of the KPIs, perhaps with any of these topline results included within them. Helps to have some graphs or visualizations sometimes.
I go first with the monthly summary, progress update reports, and goals completed. Personalize your report and make it simple.
I suggest you know your client's preferences first. Personalize it as much as possible. I hope this helps.
We usually do a monthly summary. If the client wants specific information or updates in the report, then you should also include it. Good luck, OP!
