I need a magic spell to make employers stop asking community managers to design, manage ads and create strategies. As you read, a CM is in charge of your COMMUNITY. They're should not be doing the work of 4 people.

I will pay four pence for your magic spell, it is very much in need and would be a great acquisition for my company, LOL

YES AMEN

And they want to pay minimun wage, like are you seriously?

I think the worst thing in this case is that there are so many people wanting to start working in marketing that they accept this kind of deal. It is important to educate employers, but also professionals to set boundaries and not accept less than they deserve.

PREACH

Let me know when you figure out the spell that makes them properly compensate you and not undermine your advice

Hopefully this changes over the coming years, but at least I get to develop a wide array of skills that I can leverage later

I get what you're saying but just because it's a community doesn't mean that it has to be managed by a community; just that there are a lot of people in the network.

It feels like any task that isn't dev must somehow be the responsibility of the CM -_-

I feel this! Many community managers are quick on their feet, neurodivergent, problem solvers and are highly skilled at what’s considered “soft skills.” Remember just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean you should. NO is a full sentence.

Hey all! I’m 30 years old. About to close on a house with a 5.75% fixed 30 yr mortgage. If you were me and your goal was to maximize your net worth by retirement, would you put a few thousand dollars extra into paying down the house faster or invest that extra money in the market? The 5.75% doesn’t feel that low but also not crazy high so I’m torn. Thoughts? 🙏

After 6 years as a community manager I feel exhausted. I've noticed my ideas are not innovative anymore. I'm tired of replying to the same inquiries over and over again. I even stopped using social media during my spare time because I can't handle it anymore.
I know burnout is a common thing and you'll tell me to stay away from social media for 5 days or something. But is this a feeling that will one day go away or is this just the end of my career as I know it?
