Lots of questions this morning Alex
hah, true. Just recently discovered this community, thus trying to find answers to the questions which were bothering me

I like the “passing the bar” terminology.
As a heads up Alex, I’m sure you’re aware of this, but you are ALWAYS competing with others in consulting. And the hiring/promoting/firing bars tend to be fluid with the economy - so clearly not super predictable right now.
Also second the others who wonder why you’d want to go from being a doctor to being a consultant. Your hours will probably be the same for less money, and maybe similar levels of stress and risk (just in different forms). YMMV in terms of how high you consider the impact - most folks on this bowl will tell you nowhere near the impact of being a doctor.
Could be an untapped interest in working around Business, Economics, and Tech issues. I don't know if OP wants to work as a Health expert, or looks to branch out and learn about new spaces in business.
Dude, just apply and see what happens. This isn’t a science experiment.

We're heavily, heavily oversold, we can immediately staff literally anyone who joins. Until demand dries up, we can afford to hire pretty much anyone who meets the bar. If the demand is elsewhere geographically then they will travel.
MBB is known for the high fees they charge for clients, also McK has global staffing model which means that you’ll be staffed on projects on another country worldwide regardless of your home offices(terms apply here). So again if you can pass the rigorous interview processes, then you’re definitely an MBB hire right away because clients come to MBB for problem solving every day/week.
Short answer is No for interns, I don’t think you can be staffed outside your home country. FTE maybe able to ask if you can join a study outside your country, obviously your PD and the ED on the target study has to mutually approve. In NA, people from Canada can easily get staffed on US studies, vice versa.
you do NOT have an equal chance of getting a role in New York vs Dublin. even with a global staffing model like at Mck. Competition is never irrelevant. i’ve seen plenty of people aim for a less desirable city to land their MBB offers who never would have made it in New York
