Hi fishies. I have a ton of interviews coming up soon including a case interview at EY within their Innovation and Experience Design practice for Digital Strategy Manager. I am super comfortable with CX, design thinking, etc which are the types of projects I would be working on BUT I am absolutely terrible in case interviews. I was hoping it would be based on CX or design but my understanding is there is some revenue component idk. Anyone have any insight? I would greatly greatly appreciate it!

Sounds like you're focusing on details or micromanagement instead of looking to solve bigger picture issues. For example, when sales declined, you micromanaged the sales process or just hired more sellers rather than taking a step back to see that a new competitor was offering better pricing and more options, a finding that would require a different response.
Hard for us to guess. Have more specific conversations with your team to see what they mean in the context of your role.
Well, feedback provider should be your first stop to clarify this

Consultants are story tellers. If your team is from consulting they’ve likely been beaten up in the past for taking things at face value. Data can quite frankly tell whatever story you want. What makes people strategic is thinking outside the box. Are there external factors at play? Intangibles? Specific market conditions?
Don’t just solve the problems, but think about unique solutions or suggestions. You should hypothesize and think about the bigger picture. I’d rather be told my solution isn’t accurate than not present one at all.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. It takes a lot of practice to think this way. Sometimes I even go through the motions and later on am annoyed with myself for not taking a step back. Best advice, if putting together data or a deck to support…get out of PowerPoint, take out a notebook, and write the story you want to tell. Then see if your data and slides support it. If not, then your story might be a a stretch.
Keep at it, it gets easier
Strategic--> big picture, building case for why we need to do this and some high level road map of what needs to be done.
Not How with details.
My simple examole
Big picture few years back - Solar and EV are hot and promosing.
Strategy- why it is time for us to build capabilities in this area and invest now. What needs to be done at a high level.
It is dependent on the subject for which he/she has provided feedback. A) Either- You need to be more strategic when dealing with people, such as speaking/sharing your opinion at the right time or siding/engaging with the right/stronger people within the organisation etc... B) OR- You are wasting your time and effort by focusing on small issues rather than seeing the big picture.
It would be so much better to ask the person first what they mean and then re-ask your question in this forum for a broader range of opinions/thoughts.

You need to talk about ideas more and then find someone to execute on them.
Rather than just staying busy, you need to prioritize the tasks and conversations that will have a meaningful impact on a project or the bottom line in general. This means very intentionally delegating, deferring, or ignoring tasks and asks which don't align with the prioritized motion.
Quality over quantity.
I received the same feedback. In my case, it meant that when receiving a task to be done, my job should not simply be completing the task. I should gain a complete understanding on the role that task plays in the broader scope of the project, and I must be ready to propose an alternative way of achieving the objective of the task if I realize the way it was assigned wasn’t ideal. Most of the time, managers do not know the best way to solve a problem, and they want problem solvers, not mere implementors
