Can someone please for the love of god help me figure out how I can pay less income taxes? I only make 88k and I put the 12k standard deduction but I’m still getting taxed 27% of my paychecks! My sign on bonus (20 even) a few months ago was taxed nearly 45%! Excuse my ignorance, but am I doing something wrong? Will increasing deductions help or should I increase the withholdings? Is this normal?! Thanks for any help/advice, it’s greatly appreciated.

Out of personal experience ,I can see that during compensation discussion HR person tries to convince a women candidate for a lesser package . Now this could also be the case where it is much easier to convince women to take up the job for lesser salary.
Whereas the male team member gets paid high (same YOE , same number of switch , similar prev CTC) though women are equally or more talented sometimes.

My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k. And it looks we need to sell the house simultaneously as look for a new one or our contingency isn’t as attractive. I know it’s based on personal circumstances. Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title.
