I wish I could get away with not giving a reason I call. But I always seem to get the third degree and feel like I am forced to give way more information than I am normally comfortable with. Keep in mind, I rarely call off so it has to be real emergency or I have to be really sick for me to be willing to call off work.
I have truthfully only called in twice in my entire life. Both times I was genuinely sick and you could hear it in my voice so I didn't really need to give a reason but I did. I am one of those people who am too chicken to call out haha.
I very seldom call in sick, but when I have I've given a reason. To be honest with you, I'm not really sure if it's required. But it just strikes me as the normal or reasonable thing to do.
