When you copy text from a pdf and paste it into a Word doc, the pagination sucks. Any hacks to make it line up correctly, quickly?

Copy it into a pure text app first, like the search bar of chrome. Then paste into word.

Yo for everyone thanking me here - please pay it forward and be extra nice to your associates and staff 👍

A 63 year old paralegal taught me this trick and the attorneys were so mean to her at the law firm I interned at. She was like a grandma to me. This is a rough profession but no need to take it out on your workers.

The easiest way to fix this is just copy the text and paste it into the search bar on chrome and then copy and paste that text into the word doc and the spacing is fixed.

In general if you open a pdf in chrome (rather than adobe or something else) and copy and paste directly from the pdf in chrome the formatting will be much better, though it may still need some tweaks

like

A few things that help:

1. Use the convert to word feature in Adobe
2. Open the odd in edit, then copy the text
3. Copy paste into a blank word doc, then click on ¶ and pick out the extra line spaces (can do this directly in the other doc but it helps me to clean it up first)

like

Ctrl+left Alt+V - paste unformatted text

like

You can also remove line breaks by using find and replace. Leave the replace line empty and “^p” in the find line

Folks just wanna say thanks. The chrome browser trick is LEGIT.

Wowww. Awesome

DocX tab > touch up tools > reflow selected text

This is an amazing plugin that I miss since lateraling. Not a standard feature of word, but some firms have it built in. Some don’t and I keep asking for it, but to no avail.

35F divorced with a kid. I think I will never get remarried or in a serious relationship again. Lots of men don't like dating women with children. At my age either the guys are past their prime, divorced/ing and have to provide half their income to their first wife. Many with kids live on the same street as their ex wives so they can be close to their child. I'm not comfortable dating guys like that. On the flip side there are the ones that were never married, which by this age cont

What questions should senior associates be asking to get a better assessment of partnership prospects? For context, I’m eligible this year as an 8th year, but it’s more common to make it around years 10-11 at my firm (only equity partners), and I’m trying to determine whether to stick around or lateral before I’m too senior. I’m in a smaller group that historically promotes only one new partner every few years, and there are several others also eligible. Any questions I should avoid asking?

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬
