When you have to do a script, do you concept with your partner and write it down or is it that copywriter only writes and art director comments? Or both are writing?

I’m on the copy side. My partner and I brainstorm separately, then brainstorm together. I go away and write some scripts based on our favorite ideas, then we workshop together. I’ll put in basic scene description but he’ll fine tune, and he’ll suggest places where the VO/lines could be tighter or funnier. This works really well for us, so highly suggest being as collaborative as possible.

Thanks, that sounds great approach!

I’ve done it all ways, but as the writer I’m generally on the hook for concept and copy craft. My AD is on the hook for storyboards. With a good AD, we’ll concept together and come up with amazing shit. The way I start is, “hey, do you wanna sit down and talk through ideas?” Any smart writer won’t say no

It honestly really depends on the project. If it’s a random like adapt or low tier video asset and it’s straight forward we just align on direction and tone then I source footage they source words. On larger net new things we usually ideate alone, come together build on those thoughts or have new ones come up, select our faves, and then start putting together the framework for scripts and narrative. Sometimes we write it together if we’re really jamming on something or if it’s super visually driven. I’ll also write bad scripts and send them over to my partner and she can always make them good! Sometimes I come up with good VO lines that actually make it to the record, but never a whole script, I leave that to my partner who is the expert word smith. And it’s not just me contributing to writing, my partner will often come up with sick visual references I can build off of too. Love collaborating because we make each other stronger.

Are schools even considered in the resale value of a house? Thoughts and insights appreciated!

CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .
