When you read or watch a piece of media what really makes you think ‘that’s great’? I personally love snappy editing and things that feel quite personal but I know other people prefer other styles?

Anything that gives me a different perspective. When I finish something and can truly say, “Wow! Never thought of it like that!” I love that.

Yes I love this!

I agree with something personal. I am a big feelings person so anything that gets me in my feels I am going to remember.

If it makes me nearly cry it’s extra effective !

For me it is pacing. A piece can be raw, polished, long, or short—but if the rhythm keeps me hooked without dragging, that is when I think it is great. Bad pacing kills even brilliant content.

I get this with movies too, pacing is everything and as soon as something starts to drag I lose interest

When people bravely speak about something they saw or felt, like war journalists speaking up or someone writing a personal essay about their own experience.

Yeah emotional pieces are always gonna get me

Hey people

I have recently received an offer letter from PwC and have signed and accepted the offer (via Workday portal).
Now when I check the tasks against the job on workday, I can see no tasks pending and under completed tasks: a green tick against 'review and sign offer letter (step complete)' (and I can see the offer)
I am told that I would receive onboarding emails from HR, but I haven't yet.

I recently interviewed with Natwest and I got confirmation that they wanted to offer a role. Salary negotiations were started. However, now I got an email from the hiring manager that hiring for my role has been paused due to the ongoing cost of living crisis. He expects to resume the hiring for the role in Q1 '23 and would resume the process then. So is it the end? Honestly, I don't expect him to come back. But what do you think?

Today I learned a new thing. One candidate was referred by a colleague of mine in the system. He got selected and offer letter rolled out.

When he checked the system he realized the referral was not taken and the background system captured it as direct hire.

So my friend is not going to get any referral incentive.

Wondering if anyone else faced the same issue?

Additional Posts in News & Media

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

"Don't Look Up" is as real as it can be.

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?
