The MP at my firm once got on me for this. I finished an assignment a week before the deadline and sent it to the senior partner for review. Partner ignored the draft for 5 days although I followed up several times. Then the client questions where the draft is and my boss yells at me. But what was I supposed to do?

If the partner that yelled at you and the review partner are one and the same, I’d do this:

Forward the email that has the series of reminders to partner and say: “I’m sorry that we were not able to get the draft to the client before they asked about it. As shown below, I sent the draft for review on DATE, and tried to follow up regarding review on DATE, DATE, and DATE. How can we work together to preempt clients expectations in the future? What’s the best way to get hot items on your radar?” It’s obviously unprofessional that he yelled but taking a “same team” mentality and treating it like a collective problem (while owning it) may help.

If the yelling partner and review partner are different people, it’s more nuanced and depends a lot on the relationships you have with each of them and their relationship with each other.

If you really want to get ahead of this in the future, get everyone involved to agree to a timeline for when you will circulate the first draft for review, when review will be completed, and when it will go out the door to the client. Or at least toss out a timeline and give folks the opportunity to object. It can be casual like: “I’ll plan to get a first draft to you for review on DATE. Will that give you sufficient time to provide comments by DATE so that we can finalize and send to the client by DATE?” **Just make sure you follow through on the date you offer for your side of things**

Let me apologize for the partners. I have 6 attorneys plus sending me drafts, new assignments, client inquires, administrative work, business travel, marketing, billing issues, mediations, trials etc etc and there often is just not enough time.

I love teaching art but am having to teach remotely to 1150 kids, k - 5. Have about 54 amazing elementary art teachers in my district that share SO much! I could retire (34 yrs), but just don’t want to because I love what I do! Feeling like my students aren’t getting what they should because I am struggling with Zoom, Microsoft, safe YouTube, bitmoji, embedding, downloads, editing, etc. Anyone else feeling this way?

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much?
