How long do firms take to get back to you (first round laterals)?

Question for funds folks, since no one is around to answer any questions and I can't seem to find this answer anywhere. Why can't a placement agent combine or integrate the offering of interests in the sponsor's fund with the contemporaneous offering of interests in another fund? Is it based on reputational risk or from a sales perspective in case someone rejects both funds, any other issues? Thanks!

As a junior associate, would it be better to work in an office where my practice group is stronger (in numbers, prestige, etc.) or live in a city I love but where the practice group is very small?

Does anyone know when QE (or other firms ending their fiscal year in October) pay out bonuses? Need to know how long I have to do this until I can quit.

My work product is becoming worse and partners are noticing/commenting. I just hate the practice area so much that every time I am asked to do something I just get it done as quickly as possible and can’t be bothered to put in effort. I am a 2nd year and my spouse is a higher up in engineering in big tech. He has some (but not a lot of) sway in outside counsel and could make some intros to in house counsel.

Those of you who have transferred offices at the same firm, how did it go? How did you present the request? I am a junior hoping to transfer from a satellite to a larger market’s office.

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through. I’ve been in a near constant depressive/anxious state for family reasons for the last year and half, and am soon having my first kid. I’m scared shitless that I’ll spiral out of control both at work and at home if something doesn’t change soon. Any suggestions on how to keep this job and keep it together?
