Who else feels like every partner meeting, primarily on a local or regional level, is just a monthly or quarterly beat down and that everyone sucks at everything for one reason or another. Of course there are areas we need to do better at and they need to be discussed on some level, but in my experience, rarely do partners ever come out of these meetings energized or motivated. I just don’t get this form of leadership.

This is how meetings have been for me this year. In year’s past it was not like that.

Top 25 here as well. I just don’t get this self righteous form of leadership. Telling partners with 20, 25, 30 years experience that they basically suck and how to properly serve clients. Maybe I’m just getting old and salty but not sure how one is supposed to come out of one of these and then go be all positive and motivating with the lower levels.

Come to PwC. Our partner meetings are not like that at all

On a local level or firm wide level? I agree firm wide tend to be more positive but feel like local level tend to be more defeating

I’m a Deloitte tax partner. For my experience, I’ve never felt this way or seen this. Sorry to hear about this for you.

All levels. I’ve never been in that situation. I’m BTS, and so generally we perform well, but still crazy for you.

GT Tax Parter here, same as P1. Sorry to hear, that would be demoralizing.

Is the beat down your feeling a growth target or profitability or both?

Are you a rainmaker? If so, I think you’re well within your rights to (appropriately and respectfully) tell leadership that things must change or you’re out. Life’s too short.

OP - are you big four or non big four?

P4. Not baker Tilly. Lower mid tier but for obvious reasons don’t want to say.

Among the litany of reasons that I’m thrilled to be retired (B4 - hit mandatory age 60 two years ago), the nonsense you all have mentioned might just top the list. What kept me “sane” in 25 years as a partner (audit) was that my book was always one of the largest in my practice and I generally had good success in winning work over the years. You do those things and “they” tend to leave you be.

Hi All - I have a final round case presentation coming up. I have to chose a company and create a 5-6 slide deck on how the company I’m interviewing for could implement its’ solutions to improve revs/profits at the company I chose. For people who have done this with success, do you have any tips? What was your approach with the deck? Did you use their branding/colors? Did you keep it simple or try to impress with your PowerPoint skills?

Any help is appreciated! TIA!

Has your firm gone woke? My leadership is consumed by virtue signaling and social justice to the point where nothing else (even our business) seems to matter. More importantly, they seem oblivious to the fact that not everyone shares their woke sensibilities and they’ve said some highly divisive and offensive things. There is no vehicle for dissent. Thinking of leaving a firm I’ve dedicated my life to as a result. It’s a sad realization.

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying their audit/tax season. I’m going into my 4th year as an audit partner. Let’s say the firm is in the top 5-10 range. Comp is $365k (draw plus distributions). Haven’t had comp discussions this year, but historically, it’s been 50-60k increases YOY. I’m sure this is under Big 4 salary levels, but for any National accounting firm partners, wanted to get thoughts. Thanks!
