Why does NBC News pay incredibly low wages? There are people with 5+ years of experience and many went to ivy leagues making $20 - $26 an hour as full time employees… What is going on?

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. My sibling (from India) applied for Canadian Visa for study permit (2 years) and it was rejected stating the reason "the IRCC agent was not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada at the end of their stay.
The intake was in Jan 2023.
