With all the money pouring into AI, I keep wondering where the actual jobs land. Not just ML engineers, but data center ops, power engineers, cooling/HVAC, network techs, even construction. Feels like the AI boom is really an infrastructure boom. Curious what roles people here think will see the most real hiring.

Data center ops for sure. Every major tech company is working to ramp up capacity like crazy right now, and they need people to physically run those facilities. Not glamorous work in the slightest, but about as close to job security as you can get in 2026.

There’s definitely been a big slowdown in hiring as AI has taken over more roles. The jobs still exist, but they feel few and far between now. I know people who’ve been searching for over a year and still haven’t landed anything.

I agree the hiring surge is infrastructural. I expect growth in operations, power, networking, and integration roles. The glamour sits at the top, but the volume work supports the stack underneath.

I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?
