Happy Valentine’s Day you lot.

I got H1B Visa and 83000 USD dollar petition amount as annual package.I am confused as this amount will be enough to survive there with wife and 7 year old daughter. My wife is working here and together we are earning 50LPA annual. We are settled here by owning house too.Confusion is my wife will not be able to work there on H4 Visa so the kind of life we are living here will not be possible there.Thoughts?Suggestions?Pros and Cons?

Just be kind and empathetic and apologetic. There's nothing else really you can do. The fact that you care and you want to help says a lot about you.

Thats right. Empathy is a way to go. I was glad she was okay till we came to the end of the call.
I used to be in a position to handle a lot of incoming calls and some of them could be disturbing in that way. People would get very emotional, and sometimes it wasn't over their problem with the store. They'd start telling you they were upset because their spouse was ill or they had lost their job or whatever. You really never know what people are going through, and sometimes dealing with what should be a simple business transaction can turn into an emotional experience.

I always try my best to handle these calls with care. And you are right you never know that people are going through. I start feeling sad for them when they tell me what they had been through.
This is the managers name , how may I better be of help?

I wish our department had a simpler way to escalate calls to managers. Instead all we have is a chat with managers where you write all the story and then wait for their response.
All you can do is empathize. You don't need to play therapist or anything, just hear them out and offer the standard apologies. I really believe that's all they want when they do break down like that - to feel seen and heard.

You are right. Sometimes all people want is somebody to hear their story so that they feel light. I always try to empathise with them and sometimes give some personal examples as well.

Yeah, that’s tough. You want to help, but it’s easy to feel helpless in those moments. I usually just listen, let them vent, and keep my tone calm. Sometimes people just need to feel heard more than anything else.
I think I have just gotten so used to it now that I am kind of numb to it. Of course I have empathy and let them just vent, but it doesn't affect me the way that it used to.
