Working in-house is such a shitshow. I can't access and/or find the info I need to do my job. And I'm regretting making the decision. How do you do it? How can I get past this ugly fucking wall?

Going through this myself and totally feel you. Things I’ve found helpful in my first 45 days: there’s usually an intranet that’s the go to/company google. If it’s process related to your discipline or close, there should be playbooks available on drives/ servers. In house is all for making sure their programs are built to scale (hate that word now), so teams build a ton of playbooks, guides, manuals and forms for other ppl to complete. (The downside is they might not always up to date.) If you have friends in the right places, you can ping them for faster responses.

Also, if you’re open, would love to chat offline. We can commiserate and then strategize on ways to kill it!

Give it a few months. It might get better or it won’t. How long have you been there?

I was listening to a Mufti Menk lecture yesterday on this topic. Surah Nashra is also about burdens we bear. Within this Surah,Allah SWT speaks about how He is the one that granted the cure, purity, and strength after the backs were about to break. Allah SWT takes us to this point to refine us. We never know our capabilities until we are tested and challenged. This is when we realize we can do it and we can get through it 🫶🏻! IA you got this 🫶🏻!

What are questions to ask in an interview with a startup? I work at a medium sized company that brings in ~$70m in revenue with decent health benefits and 401k. I’ll be interviewing with a startup that’s under 50ppl and from what I could find online makes ~$4m in revenue and received a second round of funding (but is in debt). What are smart questions to make sure the company would be a good fit and for me to know what risks I could face joining a startup?

When negotiating salary and being asked if you currently get a bonus, would you "lie" if it helps you to get paid more? Is this considered taboo and is there any way a potential employer could find out if you weren't truthful about your current salary/bonuses? Is it illegal if you were to accept an offer for that potential employer to question you about your previous companies pay structure?

I’m sure this is not a unique situation, but would love y’all’s advice! I love my current agency and the work is easy and ngl it’s a big name and looks impressive on a resume. But, I’m currently being offered a new job at a small agency and the money is so so good, it would be a 60% raise and a title change. I’m so torn, I don’t want to risk what I currently have, but I’m so tempted… would you leave a good place for a ton of $$?

I just accepted a VP role in-house and am about to have four direct reports and a team of 10 people working under me. Some of these people are way more experienced than I am, and I’m feeling very imposter syndrome-y. Any books or podcasts or recommendations that might make me feel more prepared?
