Depends on the micro-brand. Kickstarter-like upstart claiming they’re revolutionizing horology because they put a Chinese-made tourbillon under a badly guillochéed dial for $5k when Swiss brands charge 30? Not a chance in hell. Actual watchmaker with credentials making something genuinely cool with real craft and good value? Maybe, although $5k is at the high end of what I’d be comfortable spending for something where future serviceability may be an issue.
I won't
Over time I came to a firm conclusion that I am better off saving my $$ for fewer high quality watches from brands I really respect
C12 loco or Bel Canto, sure (both slightly under $5k) though Christopher Ward is arguably no longer a microbrand
They'd have to offer something worth paying 5k for, which is difficult as a microbrand.
At that price they start to be less micro brand and more “independent”
Good point… posted this after seeing a post asking for peoples favorite microbrands and most the answers were probably more mid-high end independents e.g. czapek

But what you love, but wouldn’t touch an expensive microbrand unless you’re positive it’s a keeper that you’ll never want to unload. Resale hit is brutal
A solid independent, absolutely, I'd love a Czapek or Dornblüth. Most typical "micro brands" probably not over 2k.
