These were my results from spending only $2000 on advertising for a library retirement workshop I’m hosting. And of the 49 people registered about 70% are bringing spouses so true number is about 80 people.
Lol dude I don’t understand why you comment on every thread where someone asks a question about prospecting and I reply showing someone the method I’m using that is working and I offer to introduce them to the marketing company I use however I don’t feel like putting it on the open forum where other advisors in Maryland would then start using them. Do you have some issue with me helping other people out? Because I’ve already explained my entire story on other threads about how I started in this industry and didn’t have any help and wasted lots of money on other methods of prospecting.
The issue with speaking to associations and clubs is that they are going to limit your scope and topic. In other words, you aren't going to be able to "sell from the podium". One big company here in Atlanta wouldn't even allow me to pass out my business card or show my logo. They are very careful with allowing financial advisors to speak to there group, unless it's a specific topic such as a new tax law change for biz owners.
And the audience is likely going to be in varying stages of careers and lifestyle. Whereas a retirement seminar (for example) that people signed up via your marketing efforts, you know that they are there for a specific reason. I'm not saying that you shouldn't do them. By all means, speak if given the opportunity, and I have picked a client here and there.
I use the opportunity to test material, improve my speaking, and to get folks on my newlsetter drip campaign. Use clubs, churches, and associations to test material so that you're very good by the time you get to one that layed out cash for the participants to attend. You will get s couple of clients out of it too.
I’m telling you 100% there is not cheaper way that I have found than holding seminars at libraries or universities and NOT providing food and marketing those. A couple grand can get you in front of 30-40 interested people and close a lot of business
What company did that for you?
Email me and I’ll connect you with them I like to make sure people aren’t in my same state if I’m referring them. Aaroncirksena@gmail.com
Also no offense but to the OP you basically said in your question that you’d like to prospect to a large number of people but not spend any money. Just a heads up there is no way to host a seminar or workshop and have people attend without spending money on some form of advertising for it unless you have a massive roster of clients and you ask them to bring friends. Otherwise the method of advertising I use through Facebook is the most efficient I’ve found, far more so than direct mailers which I used for many years prior.
Don't know what's up with these guys. The FB marketing is legit, and walked through the demo a couple of weeks. I am looking to start the seminars in August. I appreciate you sharing; otherwise I would've never known about it.

No problem brotha!
FA1. Thanks for the help. I’ll email you for the marketing company. I have a budget to work with that we extinguish during season for marketing. I was trying to get creative and save money during the off season and didn’t know if anybody else found a solution to this. My idea was to contact clubs and association heads that are in charge of lining up guest speakers.
FB unfortunately is off limits to advertise for us.
