After working 60+ hour weeks and realizing I hadn’t had dinner with my family more than a handful of times the first couple of years of my son’s life, I took a huge pay cut and now get to have dinner and put them to bed at least 3x a week. I negotiated leaving every day by 4:30. Best decision ever. They are little for a blink!!
Yes, but don’t assume you can’t find a higher-paying job where you can work remotely.
Yes, but don’t down play what you contribute just b/c you WFH. Still fight for your raises, etc.
Yes- you’re saving commuting costs and the ability to be home for those special little moments is worth it!
I definitely feel like not having to commute other than neighborhood daycare drop and pickup and the flexibility for appointments, the occasional sick day etc make up for it. I’m just wondering if I’m shooting myself in the foot financially by not looking for higher paying opportunities to put aside more savings.
Live the dream for us all
I totally would / want that for myself. Can we switch? ;)
@VP Never hurts to ask! I needed to go remote as I was moving out of town and it was either this or they lost me as an employee all together.
