If it works, it works.
Not my place to judge people who are trying to find a gig in this already terrible job market.
I use an “Open To Retire” badge.
Depends… I’ve always found it cringe but I’m sure it does help some folks.
Excuse folks for being “desperate” and needing to pay their damn bills.
If I were at a job fair (LinkedIn is not a casual around town platform) and there was an option to wear an open for work lapel, yea I would do it. Your skills can be desirable while letting recruiters know at a glance that you’re available immediately.
I care more about my career growth and survival than looking cringe to strangers.
Frankly, it’s less important than whether or not you’re using LinkedIn to reach out to people in your network. That is the core of LI as a product: it makes maintaining and nurturing your professional network easier. Everything else is just bells and whistles.
Can’t say for others, but personally it makes me feel desperate which I think subconsciously makes a hirer think you aren’t cream of the crop. Again- it may be great for some, and there should be no shame in it. Just my personal take.
Coach
I read that it makes people look desperate, and that top talent doesn't need to look for work, work looks for them. But I don't know. I had it up, then I took it down. But I did enhance my profile photo with Chat GPT to remove reflections in my eyeglasses and fluff my hair, lol! 😂

If it helps you, yay. Just keep networking, networking and networking!
