I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?

They probably think you need more cases to ramp you up since you’ve only been there for a few months. The ramp up period usually lasts about 6 months or so. Remember to let them know if you have too many cases, otherwise deadlines will start to fall through and you’ll be drained and stressed out.
There are a ton of factors that affect why cases get assigned to certain associates. There is almost never a negative implication. At worst, it means they think you need more work bc your billables aren’t high enough. But in general, if work is getting assigned to you, that means partners are willing to work with you and think you’re capable of handling the matters.
The skill level required also factors in. They may want to give your coworker more complicated cases and may view these as better suited to your experience level. Not a bad thing, not a good thing. Just a ton of different factors so don’t bother trying to analyze it
They won’t assign you more work if they think you’re incompetent, so that’s a plus. You may be performing at a higher level than your similarly experienced colleagues.
Good for you!! Go get ‘em! 😉

Assignments are usually a good development, unless you think they’re trying to drown you out to make you quit.
