As someone else said, Investment Banking and Capital Markets usually hire from target schools, like UofT, McGill etc. not sure if Ryerson makes the cut. Your best bet is looking at intern opportunities at smaller firms or taking up any internships at the big 5 just to have those big names on your resume. Some exposure is better then no exposure.
A lot (most?) companies do recruiting in sept/Oct so yeah might be late. Also, certain capital markets jobs are very particular about the schools they recruit from (queens and Ivey mostly).
You might still be able to get in if you focus on smaller firms.
I agree. It might be a little tough but there is still a chance.
You can always try reaching out to companies in your area directly to see if they need interns. Couldn't hurt! And attend all the networking events you can find.
