I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. I’ve slowly started drinking less and less. And the less I’m drinking the more I realize just how much of my time revolved around alcohol. From going to get it, to drinking it to fighting hangovers. Now I realize I need something to fill all that time with. Especially now that I’m not spending all day saturday and sunday deathly hungover. I go for walks and run errands…but in a shock to me…there’s still a lot of time left. How did you start spending your time once you stopped drinking?

Have a meeting scheduled with my boss tomorrow with no explanation. Think I’m getting fired because I’ve been making mistakes recently. I’m not handling this well and I’m feeling tempted to use. I know if I do get fired I’ll be a mess.

Sometimes I let people know I'm sober. I don't talk about the 12 steps unless someone asks. I try to practice attraction rather than promotion. Also I've never done a noon meeting but sometimes I really think I should!
