4th year licensed in two other ube states, trying to move to ny — how much of a deal breaker is it for firms that i’m not licensed in ny? eligible to waive in next year not enough?

It's not an immediate deal breaker but there will be an expectation that you will work towards NY bar membership when you're hired. I assume you're in transactional because in lit. you will need to be licensed in the state you show up in court in.

like

thanks — yea i’m in regualtory/transactional

It wasn’t a deal breaker, but when I lateraled last fall it was expected that I’d take the February bar exam (even though I’m potentially eligible to waive in come December).

like

Thanks! Yep I’ll be taking basically all of Feb off, which helps but it still sucks lol

Was not a big deal for me, lateraled last fall from another UBE state. They didn’t seem to be in any rush for me to get it.

Hello all, I work full time as an RN at the VA. I’ve been looking for a side hustle to do on my own time. I would love to review cases such as prior authorization, records for 2nd opinions, etc. The positions that I come across generally require a commitment of at least 24 hrs which is not feasible. Anyone know of any opportunities?

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

How do you bill your time? The busier I am the harder it is to bill. How do people actually bill contemporaneously in detailed terms when you bill 12 hours but literally did 100 different things in those 12 hours. And it’s never slow enough to go back and do it super detailed.

Considering a jump from Chicago to New York. I truly love living in Chicago and how far this salary gets me but I definitely want to try to make it in New York.

The only problem is my significant other has a lot of negative opinions about New York. I ultimately want to return to DC but I feel like a few good years in New York would be really good for me. In terms of a place to live, where in Manhattan can I find a place that's similar to River North in Chicago?

What can a junior associate do about a mid-level that constantly asks questions about things they were cc’d on, sends dozens of piecemeal emails and is generally just super high strung and needs everything right away?? No other mid-levels I’ve worked with act this way and this individual I’m working with is driving me insane and I’ve spent countless hours attaching emails and saying “as explained in the attached email…”
