You, friend, are the good client.
Your boss is the bad client. Next time you have that inkling, try to casually bring it up to the account team. They’ll mention it to the cd, who will then start percolating ideas. Nothing formal, but thoughts will brew. When the inevitable happens, they’ll be that much more ready to begin.
And your boss will be none the wiser.
@OP - I’m in house, and we are in the same boat as you - about 6 weeks behind everyone else on messaging and properly adjusting the customer experience. At this point, with creative fatigue hitting the “these are unprecedented times” spots - I’ve just started recommending that we go back to our regular messaging with some revised paths to purchase (curbside, delivery, etc.). Good luck with it!
I’ve managed to convince the boss that the spot needs to be post-Covid ready, not for immediate release, buying me some time and avoiding message redundancy... now, more than ever.
Excellent foresight! I hope you mentioned it to your agency 5 weeks ago to let them know what was on your mind and that they kept it in the back of their mind (then worked on it proactively). Trust your gut and let your agency in....that's what makes a great client.
