Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.
My utilization has been so low since COVID closed off the offices. Should I be worried? Should I reach out to my relationship/career coach? Change to another group/line of service??
Are any young healthy people considering going out and getting COVID on purpose? Most antibody studies are showing the disease is far more prevalent than we realized and therefore a much lower...
I currently have an autoimmune disease , receive two immunosuppressive drugs , had my vaccine and still have Covid pretty bad . I am thinking of taking a. Leave of absence because I can’t keep getting sick like this . Has anyone else been in similar shoes ?
Analytics folks, I'm looking at overlaying the graph of new COVID cases in US with deaths in US, appropriately scaled of course. Think that will show a neat lag in peaks for both, i.e, implying a new peak for deaths is coming soon?
Opposing counsel wants to force in person deposition even though I put in writing that I have a medical condition making me susceptible to covid. Should I admit I’m pregnant if it goes to motions?
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
Has anyone taken the GMATs since COVID was in full swing in US? How did you feel about it?
I’m in Tax and completing the mandatory GAM WBL. Usually, this course it presented at ETU and can be described as three monotone panelists speaking for two hours without any inflection whatsoever. This year, due to COVID, it’s presented as WBL. However, instead of a new and interesting format, it’s just a recording of the same humdrum blithering. Except now, I get to listen to it with my children fighting in the background.
Do you feel like the COVID19 and the 2020 recession hurts a lot more than it did in 2008 (especially since we haven't reached the worst yet)?
Why exactly people are so scared of Covid? Even if you catch it, very likely you will recover. What am I missing?
Republicans were complicit in 400,000 unnecessary American COVID deaths to spare Trump embarrassment.
Help. Feel like since covid the work is extremely transactional, I’m bored, and all of my coworkers are leaving.
Any ideas that people have on how to network/break into circles of tech startups? Long story short, joined a tech Fortune 500 company a little over a year ago as an entry level analyst and things have gone downhill with COVID (limited growth here but got exposure). Looking to start new with a startup as I grew tired of the ethics of a larger corp. I have no network as it stands in tech startups, don't come from a target school (although I graduated with honors) and at a loss of where to start.
Ladies, I need advice. I’m mid-20s and feeling painfully lost. For most of my younger years, my identity was rooted heavily in my friendships and social life. Graduating college and then obviously the pandemic took a toll on that, I moved home and many of my friends left the city I had lived in pre-covid. Flash forward to the world reopening, I don’t like my job, my friends live all over, I have a nonexistent love life, and I don’t know what to do next
Can I leave my wife off the mortgage application? The reason I ask is she's currently not working at the moment (specialized nurse that finally had enough with COVID) but still has student loans. Trying to find ways to improve our DTI. Edit: Just saw someone ask something similar in the consulting bowl. I am not that person. On just my income, we're looking to be under 36% DTI.
For every one concerned that the Covid vaccine manufacturers are protected to some point against lawsuits until 2024, that is true. It is due to the PREP Act. However Covid is not the first time it was activated. There have been quite a few since 2005 when it was enacted. There are some still in effect for smallpox, zika and anthrax for example. https://www.phe.gov/Preparedness/legal/prepact/Pages/default.aspx
What is it that other countries got COVID a little under control and the number of cases in US keeps rising, setting new records, looks like nothing learnt about virus in past months 😔
FTM - I’m just curious on how some of your maternity leave is set up. I received short term disability pay for 6 weeks and then paid from my job for 6 - they offered additional bonding time, but unpaid. The paid portion came from my “sick time.” I wasn’t sick, I was caring for and bonding with my son. That’s been bothering me since I returned. Now I don’t have any sick leave and any last minute time that I need to take is unpaid. Other countries give moms the entire year, 100% paid 🥴
I absolutely hate that HR essentially forces me to attend diversity workshops on how to be a successful Hispanic. Efforts should be focused not on race but economic background... am I the only one?
Hello there! Presently on EB2 and of Indian nationality with Priority date in Aug 2016. Since I am a people manager and we have an office in Toronto, we were looking into getting a PR in Canada and having me work there for a year before coming back to the US on a L1A visa. Thus shortening my GC wait time. However with the recent EB3 retrogression, they are looking into possibly downgrading me to EB3 instead. Which route (L1A or EB3) would be quicker and dependable? How to convince them? Thanks!
