Budget what you can afford, and learn to say no or suggest cheaper alternates. Friends can easily drive you to spend too much, especially if they make more/spend more irresponsibly than you.
My wife and I budget about $1K a month for dining out, but we’re foodies and even still we frequently end up exceeding that (though we can afford it).
The best way to stay in-budget is making your own meals as much as possible (avoid delivery, takeout, meal subscriptions, and fast food).
Stick to your budget. It will be hard at first, but you’ll be grateful when you can take that annual vacation to somewhere nicer, or splurge on the fancier car, etc.

Yep, this. And regarding cheaper alternatives, the best food in LA is the cheaper food.
I set boundaries for eating out. Mon-Fri I eat all 3 meals at home. Cook dinner then make enough for lunch the next day and make breakfast every morning. Then I’ll eat out 2 or 3 times each weekend, but nothing too crazy.
I don’t have a set budget for eating out, just limit how many times I do. I’m also not a big drinker so one drink at dinner once in a while is enough for me.

Steak, sushi, fine dining places: I budget a minimum of $100 for food and drink. This is less common of an occurence.
Drinks and small/shared plates: minimum of $50. Often skews upward. Maybe once a week or every two week.
Ethnic food/hole in the wall: minimum $30 , often ends up being less if no alcohol consumed.
You gotta spend your money on what makes you happy. food is not that for me, but hanging with friends are. I compromise by going out 1-3x a week with friends, but I do something basic on the menu and rarely get drinks. Usually ends up being $20-$30 per meal and I’m comfortable with that.
Use accessory budget enablers (coupons!) Like Yelp check ins to get free stuff and discounts (advertised on business page on yelp)
I agree after covid the cost of going out is insane. Invite people to your place instead of going out, or suggest alternatives like hiking. Even paddle boarding is $30. You can also go out and just order less (or nothing). On the other hand. LA had some great restaurants, many are less expensive. And you have a good job so enjoy yourself -
