Classic short sighted thinking. I read an article the other day about a conservative mother who has her stipend cut off for being a FT care taker for her child with Down’s. This happened because of the Medicaid cuts. It hasn’t even gone into effect but the states already made the move to ramp down the spending on some of the Medicaid programs. I don’t have sympathy for these dumb people.
The article missed that it's an annual fee of $100k

Couple of issues given the vague language (aka lack of well defined limitations) :
1. Can be easily understood by TSA to deny permit to any current visa holder for re entering the states. Hence the Microsoft notice to its people.
2. $100k is annual payment. And yes proclamation is for a year but extendable - and these things usually stay on for ever once into effect.
Just like the double tax negotiation (5% to 1%) non-citizens for spending money outside USA this might also be a negotiation tactic to settle at a lower nu।ber. But quite possible it's another way for Trump to pressurize India on that ridiculous tariff war/ Russia sanctions.
The only thing that can and likely will put an end to this is all the tech billionaires going to war against trump. amen !
Wage a war and at least you have a richer group of friends.
