A big debate in the office: tabs at the bottom vs. tabs at the top of a workbook? This feels like it could escalate into a full-blown war. Is there a clear winner here?

I’ve in the history of my career never seen tabs on top and if you do you should probably seek Jesus

If someone put tabs on the top of my workbooks, I’d riot.

Second the other commenter. Didn’t even know tabs on top were a thing, so I guess that inherently makes me a tabs on bottom voter

likesmart

Are you trying to start WWIII?!? Bottom of course!

like

I’m honestly not sure about tabs on the top. Never seen or heard about it.

like

I feel like you’re trolling lol. There’s no way there’s a large group of people who prefer tabs at the top.

I recommend adding a macro that will open tab 1 and will be triggered whenever you click on any tab. Or perhaps auto-close without saving after 1000 edits. It sounds like you’re looking for ways to terrorize people so I just gave you other options

likefunny

I could only wish that was the biggest of problems to solve at work. Lol!

like

Lol seriously! But I don't think anyone on my team would contest that tabs belong on the bottom.. I can't imagine anyone advocating for tabs on top, I've never seen that in my life!

They’re actually “sheets” not “tabs” 🤓

But in all seriousness, the definitive answer is on the bottom.

like

Excel is Excel so at the bottom definitely. If they are at the top it's too much like a browser!

smart

There shouldn't be. Different people work differently

So this is the level of zen and patience it requires to work with the government everyday…

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

I’m helping my GF with excel and need help lol. She works at a hospital and is trying to make an excel schedule for doctors to reserve rooms. She wants drop downs for days of the week (column K) and also different drop down menus in column P for the reserved time slots.

Is it possible to do this with two sets of drop downs (days of week + time slots) and not use index match here? She could make 5 tables for each day of the week, but prefers one table that can be easily navigated by doctors.
