Hey All!
I have a phone interview for a data scientist role at snowflake comming up. Any advice on how to prep?
The email indicates that the call will cover my experience, motivations, and understanding of Snowflake.
Curious if other have gone through the process and have insights to share. Or if anyone at snowflake can shed light on how I can be effective.

Life isn’t always greener on the other side. I learned early on that industry does not mean better hours when the client is sending emails late at night and on the weekends.

It’s called having boundaries. I work industry. I typically work 9-5. I turn off my computer and leave my desk. My boss will call me if he needs anything additional. It’s rare. But by setting those boundaries when I started, it’s expected now.
Ok well now you're saying you work less hours because you automated things, not because you set boundaries alone
Following as I’m interviewing as well
I ask during the interview what are typical hours and what are busy season hours, when and how long busy seasons like. If you have multiple interviews and some of them with your potential peers I would rather ask them than the hiring manager. Asking HR is useless, they would tell you the firm’s official hours.
Are you in financial reporting? I’ve heard that it is a good rule to avoid FR if you seek fewer hours.
Anecdotally, division controllers at my client email me at all hours 7 days a week so there might also be something to say for your level of responsibility and your capability to delegate

I would invite a person at the same staff level at the company to lunch.

I'm in industry and I encourage my team to have a good work life balance, but we also expect to get your items complete. There will be emails and potentially phone calls after work hours. Sometimes they are urgent if its quarter or year end, but not always. My boss doesn't email me after hours expecting for me to get whatever it is done that second. It was on his mind and sent me an email.
If it is the expectation for you to get everything done when you get an email, then you need to have a conversation with your boss because there's very little that can't wait til the next day.

Turn off the computer after 8 hours of actual work and live your life. If you get fired you get fired. That's my approach and I have yet to be fired. Definitely communicate on status and work load and stuff, make sure it's clear to your higher-ups what is done and what isn't
