Any Immigration lawyers here?
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

Clients are pain in the ass out here

Yeah, I totally get what your coworker meant. Remote work can feel like this weird mix of peaceful freedom and quiet invisibility. You grind through a solid day, ship good work, but there’s no casual “nice job on that report” in the hallway or quick coffee chat where someone notices you’re carrying a heavy load. It just… disappears into team threads or shared docs that nobody really lingers on.
I completely agree! It can feel isolating. You do great work, but it often goes unnoticed. Those casual chats really help in recognising contributions.
I often feel that way. That is part of the reason I go out of my way to make sure my work is being noticed. I am in constant communication with my boss.
It’s great to be proactive about it. It makes a big difference!
I definitely feel like there's an in-office bias, and I'm hybrid, not full time remote. I've watched a couple colleagues get promoted and can't help thinking it's because they're spending more time with management than the hybrid/remote workers. No ill-will toward them, I'm okay getting passed over so long as I can keep working from my couch.
It’s frustrating to see promotions go to those who get more face time with management. At least you’re comfortable working from home, though!
