Leave. Money is money and the work can be fun anywhere. And the fun work is less fun when you know your underpaid. That reality will settle in your brain now that you know, and it will poison you. They have the money, you are just not what they chose to spend it on. They’ll get their bonuses, there will be new hires, others will get promoted in the next months and you’ll wake up one day and realize you’ve been had.
Note how the suit says go for the money. I say go for the good work and fun environment. Because ultimately that’s what we do this for. And these are the people you will be spending long hours with. MS1 is right though, diversity is good, just not at the expense of good work. Make smart moves for your book and money will come. But don’t discount quality of life in the total equation.
Any agency that really values you 'has the money'
Yes, don’t do it! I was miserable when I decided to take the money over being happy. I stuck it out for a year but have to make a move. I happy now and wish $$$ was more but in time.
What level are you? Work hard and love what you do. The money will come.
Depends on what stage of your career. And if you have kids.
You’ll be tempted to stay for the people and fun. The work is what you make of it. You can make a job fun, you can’t, however, make it pay more
If you have a better option, take it. Otherwise you’re lucky to be getting paid more. It doesn’t hurt to look, so do it.
@FCB1 @MD1 I’m a junior—my team has told me I’m working at mid-level and deserve the promotion but that we don’t have the $ for it and won’t for at least another year. I’ve got loans that I’m chipping away at pretty steadily so the salary issue isn’t dire (but of course would be great to pay those off ASAP)
How long have you been there and is it your first full time job?
