Yes. It is our (employees) responsibility to make sure we take advantage of ALL employer benefits. After 20 years of maxed out 401K, employer match and employer contribution to HSA, etc., my combined investments just crossed $1.5M this year and I am super excited. Wishing you all the best.
Yeah I had $320k in 401k after 5 years at the big 4. Was shocked to see that when I left because I never checked on it.
Some people never earn enough to have the surplus income to do that. They try, and end up with debt burdens that grow faster than savings.

Or they end up taking a loan against it or cashing it out…
Maybe? DEFINITELY worth doing in my opinion.

It’s good that with the SECURE 2.0 passed under the Biden Administration, companies that offer a 401(k) are required to auto enroll their employees… the school of thought being if you never saw the money to begin with, it’s more manageable

It’s amazing how often this happens when I talk to coworkers. It’s part of your compensation so you have to get the match!
My retail employer just changed their contributions to our 401ks this month. Before they would match your contributions based on hours worked and the vested schedule. Now in order for them to match 4%(this is the max they will do now) you have to contribute 5% or more. It’s 1-2% 100% match, 3-4% 50% match.
Is this a good or bad setup? I am still new to 401k policies.
