I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

The reality of work is different than what I might have envisioned as a kid or as a student. That's to be expected, some things I do today I would not have thought about then. As to whether it's still meaningful and exciting, sure, it is to me. Every day is different, and you're only as good as what you're doing at present. It's challenging and can be a real grind, but at least I'm not sitting at a desk shuffling papers.
Agreed, nothing like how I imagined but I’m not complaining
Not at all. I have worked for some big companies and they are the filled with some of the rudest, most disorganized people you'll ever meet. Also, meaningful journalism was an illusion from 1970s cinema, not sure that world exists much anymore.
I’m really sorry you’ve had this experience, hopefully you find a company that makes you more excited for the industry
At first it felt electric, like I was part of something that mattered. Over time the grind set in. The meaning is still there, but it is harder to feel every day. It is a balance.
Absolutely agree, I was super excited when I first started but now it comes in waves
The reality has lived up to every bit of the promise for me. The industry is fast, exciting, and rewarding. If it feels dull, maybe it is not the field that is the problem
I love to hear this! I hope everyone gets to experience it just as you have
