A year ago, I left a toxic job and took a role with better hours and a healthier culture, but at a 20% pay cut. At the time, it felt worth it for my mental health. But now, inflation’s hitting hard, and I’m watching others advance financially while I feel stuck. I don’t regret leaving my last job, but I do wonder if I sold myself short. Has anyone else made this trade-off? Did it pay off in the long run, or did you eventually chase comp again?

I applied for a role at Amazon bit the status has not changed from Under Consideration since May, should I wait longer or consider it closed?
They have not contacted me for any rounds yet.

I’m a tax senior in big 4. Which role in the industry has a better career trajectory in terms of growth and pay: senior accountant or senior tax accountant? I do a lot of tax provision and starting to find tax interesting but I’m not having a lot of luck finding openings for in house tax roles.

I recently switched to a developer role in a product based company from a support engineer for past 4 years in a service based company. I got a good hike as well.

I let the shame spiral get the better of me this week. Realized that I wasn’t going to be able to meet a deadline because I’d mismanaged my time and the project was more complex than I though. Rather than admit the mistake and suggest a new deadline, I just kept saying I’d send it tomorrow/later/so on. And then I stayed up basically three days straight working, which has only made me slower and more inefficient. So I’m still not done and now I’m in the pits of anxiety and exhaustion hell. FML.

3 YOE in Marketing through internships in college, followed by 2 years Financial Operations/Data Tools full-time. I got an offer for $75K at TekSystems for a Market Analyst role. I gave them a range of $70-75K, so they gave the max. But I am questioning asking for a bit more given insurance is apparently on the higher-end and I want to ensure I didn't low-ball myself.
