The only time I have trouble with upgrades out of BOS are flights to ATL. Most of the plane has status then, plenty of diamonds sitting in the back of the plane in the middle on those flights.
That said if you’re going direct to anywhere but ATL you’ll almost always get the upgrade with Gold and above.
I’ve always found flying Delta to just be more pleasant than dealing with AA. FAs are often nicer, phone agents are more helpful, ATL is a nice airport if you’ve gotta connect through a hub, etc. Biggest downside I found was that AA’s satellite WiFi is far superior.
As Platinum I’ll always get Comfort+ but very rarely FC. You almost always have to connect through a hub, and I haven’t noticed much of a difference between MSP, SLC, DTW. Just hit diamond so we’ll see how the experience changes
I’m diamond and it’s almost always first (with exceptions) and agreed.. always routing through a hub which is annoying
I am first for probably 3/4 flights I take a week.. Always on the flight out of BOS. Only time I either definitely don’t, or it comes close, is Thursday nights coming home through another delta hub, like ATL or DTW
It is not a primary hub. I need to go to sf a lot and very few direct flight, and rarely at convenient hours... so depends on your routing. AA seems to extend its footprint (it used to be the biggest carrier at BOS mid 2000). They now have flights to London starting in March (finally no BA bullshit taxes for award ticket to europe!) and i heard Paris soon (from FA)
