it was art because it was inspiring, disruptive, beautiful, intriguing, controversial etc

Advertising really is the art of persuasion. It is about getting into people’s minds, making them feel something, and moving them to act. That takes creativity, empathy, and a real sense of craft.
The truth is the industry hasn’t lost its magic because of AI or money pressures. It has lost its magic because too many of us stopped believing in it. We started treating it like a job to get through instead of a craft to be proud of.
If we only see advertising as commerce, then of course nobody cares. But when we treat it as storytelling that shapes culture, it becomes something people remember and talk about.
AI cannot take that away. What can kill it is our own cynicism. If we still care, then it is on us to prove this industry still matters.
Was this meant to persuade us of something we can all see with our own eyes? The industry isn’t “dying because we stopped believing” it’s dying because corporations have realized the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. They can get way better results with much less. Traditional ads are a bloated, narcissistic, cesspool.
People seem to hate AI slop. I think smart, good advertising improves perception of a brand. So if people are annoyed by AI being shoved in their face they might start to view human created ads as art 😂
Advertising is about communicating a message. It is simple; you can use art or any other resource. The main point is to share the messages.
